IELTS Compass (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the IELTS Compass study platform at ieltscompass.vercel.app (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have over your data.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you register. We never store passwords in plain text.
• Study progress — your chosen start date, completed tasks, daily streaks, and day-by-day progress through the 30-day plan.
• Scores and performance — band scores you record for practice tasks and mock exams.
• Notes and personal study content — notes you attach to tasks, entries in your mistake log, and vocabulary items you save.
• Usage data — aggregated, non-identifying analytics about how the Service is used (see “Third-Party Services” below).

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account, and authenticate you when you sign in.
• Deliver the 30-day study plan and track your progress, streaks, and scores.
• Send transactional emails, such as email verification, password reset, and daily study reminders.
• Provide support and respond to your requests.
• Improve the Service, fix bugs, and understand how students use the platform.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your study data for advertising.

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as your theme choice). These are essential for the Service to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time, but doing so may sign you out or reset certain preferences.

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the Service. Each processes data only to the extent needed to provide its service:

• Better Auth — authentication and session management. It handles account creation, sign-in, and session cookies.
• Prisma and Turso (LibSQL) — our database provider. Your account, progress, scores, notes, and vocabulary data are stored in a Turso database.
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure for the Service, including Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which collect aggregated, privacy-friendly usage and performance metrics.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (verification links, password resets, and study reminders).
• Ably — realtime messaging that powers live progress updates within the Service.

We retain your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and study records within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain data by law (for example, for tax or fraud-prevention purposes).

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data and account.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Export a copy of your data in a portable format.

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and least-privilege access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

The Service is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate.
